The world has been turned upside own and will never be the same again. There is extraordinary dislocation and suffering, beyond our comprehension. However the time has some opportunities for us to reconfigure ourselves as in our forced inactivity of sheltering in place, we’re have the time to reflect and get more fully in touch with our deepest needs and desires.
In a way it’s like the experience of a volunteer who went into the prison system to teach meditation to a group of the inmates. He was surprised to see how motivated the participants were, and how in their enthusiasm, brought other inmates into the group. Reflecting on this unexpected success, he realized that the restricted environment had two big things going for it; there was no materialistic opportunity to go to malls and spend money; and there was no distraction from TV and electronic devices and games. Perfect for going inside and contacting what lay deep inside!
